Pekao is the bank with the most mobile payment users
Data provided by banks’ press offices shows that there were 1,029.6 thousand customers using HCE and Google Pay mobile payments at the end of the first quarter of 2018. That's an increase of over 260 thousand compared to the end of last year and over 730 thousand more than in March 2017. More detailed information can be found in the table below.
As you can see, the bank with the largest number of customers who use their smartphones to make contactless payments is Pekao. In just one quarter it grew by more than 70 thousand. However, the bank specifies that this covers HCE-ready customers, meaning those who have installed their PeoPay app in a version that enables HCE payments, on a phone that supports this solution. In reality the number of customers who actively use HCE may be lower than the indicated 244 thousand.

PKO was in second place when it comes to the number of HCE users in March. The company states that it had almost 167 thousand customers using the feature. At the end of the fourth quarter of last year it was over 155 thousand, while at the end of the first quarter of 2017 - less than 76 thousand. BZ WBK and mBank are on the following ranks, both with over 150 thousand contactless mobile payment users.
As you can see in the table, the number of banks offering HCE or Google Pay services in Poland is significant at 18 companies. Citi Handlowy joined the group in the last quarter. However still not all companies want to share their data regarding the number of customers using these features, which is why our table is incomplete.

What's more, not all banks share the number of contactless mobile transactions their customers make. mBank is the leader among the companies that did share this information. Its customers made 3.3 million contactless mobile transactions using POS terminals between January and March. Millennium and Alior customers were in second and third place.
